Wild Country fabrics and carefully selected to provide the best balance between performance and cost, for each range of tents produced. Flysheets and groundsheets are Polyurethane coated and a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish is applied to prevent wetting out. Inner tent fabric is also DWR treated to ensure a water-repellent finish when pitching in the rain.
Flysheet Fabrics
185t Polyester
Used on our family and group tents as well as our entry level backpacking tents for its excellent performance and price. PU coated to provide durable waterproofing.
190t Ripstop Nyon
Used on our more substantial tents to provide better performance and UV protection in the kinds of environments these tents are designed for. The ripstop element increases durability and is harder wearing with out a proportional increase in weight.
Groundsheet Fabrics
190t Nylon
Selected for use in our backpacking tents due to its excellent durability and low weight. PU coated to produce a hydostatic-head well in excess on the waterproof standard.
12x12 180gsm Polyethylene
This is used in our family and group tents for its ability to cope with the foot traffic generated in high capacity tent.
Inner Tent Fabric
Ripstop Nylon
Used where low weight and strength are premium considerations. DWR treated to increase water repellency and breathability.
Polyester
Used extensively for group and family tents where its low weight helps reduce the overall tent weight. Durable and soft to the touch to increase comfort, but maintain product life.
Flame Retardant
All Wild Country tents feature flame retardant flysheets provide you with the highest levels of security possible. However, it should be noted that it is still extremely dangerous to use a naked flame in a tent and we strongly advise you not to do so.
Inner tent fabric
Our inner tent fabrics are based on Nylon ripstop cloth which is glazed on one side and treated with a specially developed water-repellent finish. This allows water vapour to pass easily out of the inner skin but inhibits water penetration back through the fabric. The inner tent fabric also has a ripstop weave to increase tear strength
