Gloves and mitts have been a key focus of the extremities® range from the very beginnings of the brand and the inception of the Mountain Mitt. Born of a frustration with the fit and performance of existing products, the development of the Mountain Mitt resulted in a unique taping process and a superb, free and easy thumb fit. Since then the extremities® gloves and mitts have been used repeatedly in some of the most hostile and exposed environments the world over.
Throughout our 20+ year history, our process of continuous development and materials sourcing ensures our products remain at the top level of performance and fit. For 2006 our range of 35 distinct styles offers excellent glove solutions for a wide range of outdoor activities from running to mountaineering. Each style offers clear advantages, to provide you with an easy choice when selecting a glove for your needs.
Mountain Mitt
This mitt is still the most durable, waterproof mountaineering mitt available, using a combination of Gore-Tex® Misano and Pittards® Armor-Tan™ leather with the same excellent thumb fit and waterproof construction. Available as a shell allowing you to use any insulating layer as conditions dictate, from down filled mitts to lightweight wicking gloves.
Water proof inner glove technology:
Our innovative, waterproof inner glove is the newest development within extremities® and features in our Ice Glove, Lightweight Ice Glove and Lightweight Mountain Mitt. By placing the waterproof component in the inner glove rather than as part of the whole glove or outer, we can remove some of the complications of designing a glove and increase its versatility.
The inner glove can be used on its own, even in poor weather, removing the need for a separate glove for walking-in. The outer layer feature all the dexterity and protection required for climbing and can still be use in milder conditions.
Specialist Gloves
From its mountaineering beginnings our range has broadened to include products designed for hill walking, skiing and backpacking. Over recent years we have added more and more specialist products so that we now have dedicated gloves for cycling, horse riding and adventure racing. These gloves, such as the Windy Lite Dry Winter Hacking Glove and San Remo utilise the same high end design and materials as our other products in specific packages for running and cycling. At just 30g per pair the Windy Lite Dry is possibly the lightest glove available that uses Gore® Windstopper® fabric.
Liner Gloves
At extremities® we have carefully designed our gloves to be modular, choosing fabrics that work harmoniously when used together. Consequently our range of gloves is split into distinct categories As a mountaineer, the Power Stretch Glove or Sticky Power Stretch Glove, Super Windy Glove and Mountain Mitt offer excellent combinations to suit the warmer conditions of walking-in and the highly aerobic and sweat inducing conditions of climbing. And still maintain the highest levels of durability.
