Terra Nova tents use either Terra Nova Reflex poles or DAC™ Featherlite poles, depending
on the conditions and use the tent has been designed for.
Reflex Poles
Reflex poles are used in Endurance tents and lightweight Wild Country tents where
robustness is critical
- Designed by and exclusive to Terra Nova
- Shown in independent tests to out perform and outlast other poles, even
in extreme conditions
- Minimise failures and maximise durability
- Colour coded 7001 T6 aluminium
- Superior anodising treatments to minimise breakages and maximise durability
- Removable pole feet designed to reduce corrosive splitting and allow field
repairs
- Dura Cord shockcord - won't wither in extreme conditions.
- Extruded seamless poles, for greater durability
DAC™ Featherlite Poles
DAC™ Featherlite poles are used in Superlite and Lightweight tents where weight
saving is the most important factor
- 7001 aluminium alloy, 8.84mm outside diameter
- Lighter than other similar aluminium poles; achieved by redesigning the
pole joint which is less than half the weight of traditional pole joints
- Extruded seamless poles for greater durability
- Removable pole feet which allow field repairs
Note: If you are using your tent frequently near the sea, or for extended periods,
please consult Terra Nova's Technical Department for advice on care.
Steel Poles
Used in our group and family tent for its ability to hold extreme angles and resist
corrosion.
- 90mm outside diameter
- Zinc plated to increase corrosion resistance
- One way swaging to section ends prevent the poles being connected incorrectly.
Pole Sleeves
Terra Nova were the first tent manufacturer to use continuous mesh pole sleeves.
We believe they provide the best pole attachment because they are:
- Faster to pitch
- Easier to thread for a single person
- Stronger, more reliable pole housing providing a taut inner with uniform
tension across the whole tent
- Fumble free, important when it's dark or when wearing gloves
We have designed the mesh pole sleeves to maximise ventilation, minimise weight
and improve separation between flysheet and inner tent.
