Terra Nova and Wild Country tents are Geodesic or Tunnel designs. The choice of design depends on the use of the tent; geodesic is used where strength and robustness are critical and tunnel where weight saving is key. A combination of these types is used in our group and family tents to produce stability and large open spaces in complicated shapes.
Geodesic Design
Geodesic designs use intersecting poles to create the most stable structure available for a lightweight tent. Tension is spread evenly across the inner providing the strongest frame for the flysheet. Geodesic shapes, due to their aerodynamic nature, provide better performance in high winds.

Tunnel Design
Because tunnel designs use less pole they are lighter and so offer good space to weight ratios. They are generally pitched outer first, allowing quick provision of shelter with the inner less likely to get wet.
Quality for Your Piece of Mind
All Terra Nova and Wild Country tents are guaranteed waterproof (including the Laser Competition, providing the complementary waterproof hood is used).
All seams are fully taped except Superlite range flysheets which use a removable waterproof hood over key seams.

We use 2 way YKK zips - selected for their high burst resistance and water resistance. Ultra fine no-see-um mesh keeps out the smallest of unwanted visitors.

Guy points are double stitched and sealed for extra strength and water resistance.

Stress points are bartacked for maximum strength. Pullout tapes used for securing pole feet are bartacked and use brass eyelets for extra strength and reliability.

Weights
Minimum weight is the inner tent, flysheet and poles only. Packaged weight includes inner tent, flysheet, poles, pegs, tent stuffsac, pole bag, peg bag, guylines and repair items.
In the interests of continuing research and development we reserve the right to change specifications. Colours are reproduced as accurately as the print process will allow.
