backpackgeartest.org is a completely independant US based website dedicated to reviewing outdoor gear in "real use" scenarios. What makes these tests a bit sterner than the average magazine report is that reviewers keep the kit and use it over a period of months, experiencing different conditions and using it in different ways.

Tents from American manufacturers are often criticised as being unsuitable for use in Europe (where it's generally wetter!), and we were interested to see how the Terra Nova Laser Competition would be received by US backpackers perhaps more accustomed to tarps, acres of mesh inner fabrics and bear proofing kits. With this in mind we submitted 3 Laser Competitions for test, and they were quickly snapped up by enthusiasts eager to try out this new lightweight contender.
