Review

The Laser Competition tent is a classic for superlite backpacking, winning multiple rave reviews and awards. Even though we've moved on to develop lighter variations like the Laser Photon Elite, and even totally new designs like the Solar Competition, the good old Laser Comp' continues to be a favourite with gear testers and real-life users alike (we're still rather fond of it too).

The 2010 Trail and Country Walking magazine annual camping guide named the Laser Competition as 'Our Favourite' Ultra-Light Tent. Still one of the lightest double-wall tents available, the Laser Comp's heritage as an adventure-racing tent for two means that it also makes a spacious solo backpacking tent. The large porch space is often commented on, as is the remarkable stability from what seems such a simple design. Like the review says:

"The LC is a basic affair, but for the weight, it's extraordinary: a well-engineered, robust tent once you've got to grips with putting it up and tensioning it .... though it does take a bit of fiddling to erect it to it's optimum stability, the tent is more than up to the job of taking a battering in the British weather."
