The Trisar 2 is a great semi geodesic tent. The 'inner pitch first' design provides extra stability and great protection from all but the worst of the weather

► The freestanding format also makes this tent ideal for camping where the ground is less firm, as it doesn't rely on guy lines and pegs to support its main structure.

► This 2 man tent has been designed for year round backpacking trips and is also well suited for group, Duke of Edinburgh or Scout use in more exposed conditions

► The Trisar range has ventilation front and back, the front vent can be adjusted from the inside of the tent while the back vent is opened or closed from the outside. The flysheet door is particularly versatile, opening from the top, bottom or fastening at the side, allowing you to cater for changes in weather and weather direction

► The Trisar range uses Wild Country Superflex alloy poles and tried and tested Wild Country, high performance flysheet and groundsheet fabrics

Groundsheet protectors (footprints) to prolong the life of the tent and help keep it clean can be purchased separately here

Trisar 2 Review

We all know how challenging the weather can be; even more so in higher mountain environments. You must respect the environment you are in and have the right product for the challenge. The first thing I liked about the Trisar 2 tent was the semi-geodesic design. This gives extra stability and great defence from the worst weather.

The Trisar can be pitched in freestanding mode which makes it ideal for camping where the ground is less firm, as it doesn't rely on guy lines and pegs to support its main structure – a great plus point if you are looking to do regularly wild camping. Apart from its easiness to pitch, it is exceptionally spacious and incredibly comfortable tent bearing in mind how lightweight it is.

Its well positioned vent panels to allow for a free flow of air throughout the tent, making it a more comfortable experience. If you are concerned about bugs, vent panels have a mesh covering so that air can enter the tent but bugs are kept out, great for expeditions in the hotter desert climates. These mesh panels are also found on the large main door. A cool thing about the door is that the large windows help make the interior allow for greater exposure to light, increasing the sense of space. The tent has plenty of room for storage for camping and expedition equipment. The porch extension offers a reasonable size to take off muddy boots and outdoor clothing before entering the main area of the tent. If you like more room you may have to think about the XL version which offers an extended porch area of 1.70m x 1.35m. The lantern hooks are a nice touch and allow you to light the tent at night with ease and maximum effectiveness.

A tent footprint is not necessarily an expedition essential, but it will add comfort as you are not so close to the ground and will obviously protect the groundsheet somewhat. Terra Nova have designed footprints to fit in the specific tent models. They are lightweight and can even fit into the same tent bag – I think a great addition.

From basic camping to high level mountaineering, trust in a product is vital, especially when you depend on it! I trust this product and would strongly recommend it. On “price vs. performance” I believe it to be one of the best.
