Review: Good rucksack but needs some improvements 17/06/18

I've had some little use out of my TerraNova Laser 20 ELite, and so far I like it, though I have to point out a few things that need improvement.

This pack is very light, so bear this in mind! It is strong enough, but is not meant to be thrashed on a music festival while on the booze; or to be thrown over the brambles. It will survive some rubbing on rocks (absolutely no signs on mine) but I won't do this all the time.
For the low weight (230gms) it is very strong indeed. The shoulder straps are ok, padded enough, and the waist belt is large enough to give support. The pockets on the waist belt are very useful, and the waterproof zips are welcome.

However, I cannot understand why a long pocket on the back had not been planned. I think is essential on a lightweight pack to have the option for a foam pad, this can also double as a water-bladder pocket.
On my pack I've added a full-length inside pocket, made of common 2oz ripstop nylon, and with a fold-up flap at the top (which has a zip to make it a wide pocket for glasses, pencil, batteries, etc.), it has added only 10 (ten!) grams but the pack feels a lot better now! A dedicated 4mm foam pad weights barely 30 grams, and the comfort and ease of packing are vastly improved.
By ditching the sternum strap (about 25gms alone) and using a length of 3mm bungee cord instead, plus trimming the webbing for my waist size; the pack is still under 250gr and the foam pad. Given that this pack is not meant to carry more than a couple of kilograms, there's no need for a big sternum strap.

Pro's:
-low weight and good strength
-the fabric beads off a light rain
-usable main volume of the pack
-useful side mesh pockets
-good waist band with pockets
-folds in one of the side pockets!

Con's:
-no option for a foam back or water-bladder
-because the above, it needs a very careful packing and to avoid any sharp object
-the velcro opening a the top can be fiddly
-overkill sternum strap
-could have some daisy-chain at the bottom
