
In October and November 2006 Julie-Ann Clyma and Roger Payne will be attempting first ascents of various peaks above the Singkhamo Glacier in North Sikkim.
Sikkim is a small Indian state situated in the Eastern Himalayas and boarders China, Nepal and Bhutan. The state is familiar to Clyma and Payne as both were involved in an expedition to West Sikkim in 2005, where they made first ascents as a pair and with two Sikkimese climbers.

The same Sikkimese climbers will join Julie-Ann and Roger on this trip, with the initial goal being a group of 4 summits arond the Singkhamo Glacier and the South Ridge of Gurudongmmar (6715m). Terra Nova are delighted to be supporting Julie-Ann and Roger, along with there Sikkimese partners Bhutia and Rai, by providing extremities products for the team.
The team will be using extremities Ice Gauntlet gloves, Took hats and Aspen and Tahoe hats as they attempt 6000m and 7000m peak in this area. As well as the 4 planned virgin summits there is also scope for further ascents including Kangchengyao (6889m), Tenbarwa Ri (6626m), Chombu (6362m) and Virgin 7000m summits near Paohanli.
