Terra Nova Equipment is thrilled to announce that the Wild Country Helm Compact 1 has won the Trail Magazine Gear of the Year award 2023.
Praised for its price, portability, and reliability, it was hailed for withstanding a “battering in north Wales” and “performing as well as the tent pitched next to it that had a price tag nearly 4x that of the Helm”.
The Wild Country Helm Compact 1 is a free-standing 1-person dome tent that packs down to just 30cm. It is also easy to pitch and pack away, making it ideal for anyone looking for a spacious tent.
The Gear of the Year award comes after the Helm Compact 1 was crowned the Best Value 1-person tent in 2022. With a 2-person and 3-person version also available within the Helm Compact family, the range now holds a total of 4 awards.

The Wild Country Helm Compact 1 has been awarded the Best Value one-person tent in 2022, as reviewed by Trail Magazine.
Matt Jones tested six one-person backpacking tents currently on the market. He reviewed the Helm Compact 1 and awarded it the Best Value, with a final verdict of; “Sturdy and protective with a compact packed size, this is a robust and reliable solo backpacking tent”.
