Product Development Manager

Terra Nova Equipment, a leading company in the outdoor gear industry, is seeking a talented and experienced Product Development Manager to join our dynamic team. As our business continues to grow, this role offers a chance to make a significant impact and drive the development of cutting-edge backpacking tents and accessories.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end product development process for our tent and accessory range.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams encompassing design and engineering aspects with marketing, sales, and production to bring new products to market.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop innovative product concepts and specifications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and durability.
  • Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of new products, ensuring they perform exceptionally in real-world conditions.
  • Manage the product lifecycle, from initial concept to final production, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and technologies, proactively seeking product improvement and differentiation opportunities.
  • Take ownership of the QC process ensuring product conformance to internal and external standards

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Product Development Manager, preferably within the outdoor gear or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of product development processes, from concept to commercialization.
  • Hands-on approach with a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering high-quality products.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Innovative mindset, constantly seeking new ideas and pushing boundaries to drive product excellence.
  • Passion for textiles relevant to tents and accessories with desire to work with suppliers on innovation for the sector.
  • Degree in Product Design, Engineering, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • MS Excel knowledge.

Sewing Production Operative

  • Production Team

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sewing Production Operative to join our production team. This post offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in sewing and textile manufacturing.

Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will learn the intricacies of sewing techniques, equipment operation, and product quality control, all while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the production of high-quality backpacking and expedition tents.
  • Learning and practising sewing techniques, including pattern cutting, stitching, and machine operation.
  • Operating sewing machines and other related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assisting in the preparation and cutting of fabrics and materials for production.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Assisting in the inspection and quality control of finished products to meet Terra Nova Equipment’s standards.
  • Collaborating with the manufacturing team to ensure efficient production processes.
  • Actively participating in training programs and workshops to enhance sewing skills and knowledge.
  • Adhering to health and safety regulations and following established company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrating a positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow as a sewing professional.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A strong interest in sewing and textile manufacturing.
  • A genuine passion for outdoor activities and an understanding of outdoor equipment.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship and product quality.
