A finish date of 1st June 2008 has now been set! Rosie has successfully reached the East Coast of the USA and will be runnig through Manhattan tomorrow (03/10/07). After this she “only” has Nova Scotia, Greenland and Iceland to cross before arriving home in Tenby, Wales.
Terra Nova wish to once again congratulate Rosie on her acheivemnts so far, and wish her all the best for the rest of the journey.

Having battled through the ice and snow with her broken ribs Rosie made it to the national road network in Alaska and ditched the sled. A new buggy allowed her greater comfort along the Historic Elliot Highway on route to Faribanks, which she reach in early May.
Here she packed up her winter gear and sled before continuing on after being reunited with Herculies. Now traveling South South East she continued along the Alaskan highways on her way to Tok where she was to meet her Son and a BBC journalist in early June.
Now around 200 miles in to Canada she is making good progress and is back to averaging 20 miles a day.
Rosie Around the World
Rosie’s quest started 2nd October 2003 from her home in Wales, carrying everything she needed in her beloved buggy Hercules.
Her route has taken her across Europe, through 7000 miles of Russia and Siberia and in to Alaska in just 2 years.
Having braved Bears, -50 degree weather, horrendous mosquitos and the perils of a Buckwheat diet she now faces the most dangerous section of her journey as she Crosses Alaska in heavy snow and perishing conditions.
She has been lent a sled for this section of her journey as Hercules could not make it through the heavy snow.

On the 25th February 2006 she was airlifted out of a very dangerous situation as she took shelter on Henry Island.
She had been suffering with frostbitten toes for a few days after being caught in a blizzard and the weather had then deteriorated to such a degree that it hampered the rescue attempt. In amazingly high spirits she spent the next month or so recovering and receiving treatment. She now has a hefty pair of boots and plenty of layers ready for the restart of her journey from where she was picked up.
She resumed her run on the 2nd April with a flight back to Fairbanks in order to travel to the exact spot she was rescued from. Through out April she has made good progress with 25 miles covered on the first day. This is despite breaking a rib in a nasty fall on the ice. Rosie has an website detailing her trip, which is run by her son. Read up on her current situation and past adventures and support the charities she is running for Rosie Around the World
Terra Nova are supporting Rosie with an Ultra Quasar Tent and Saturn Bivi, plus any repairs needed thought her journey. The most recent reports are that she is back in her Ultra Quasar after spending the best part of this year in the sled. Now she is off snow covered trails the sled is redundant and a new buggy is in service.
