Terra Nova Equipment has developed its most radical and innovative tent to date. The Terra Nova Eclipse combines the best technical performance with a lightweight and stable design.
The company has designed the new tent to combat the stability problems inherent in tunnel tents. By using a compression pole system, the front and rear poles have enhanced stability, resulting in a tent which combines the low-weight characteristics of a tunnel tent with the high strength of a geodesic design.
There are three versions of the Eclipse: a two-person, a three-person and a two-person with an extended porch. The standard porch is surprisingly large, big enough for two packs or suitable for sheltered cooking. The tent also benefits from the new multi-point ventilation system. Six ventilation points are evenly spaced around the flysheet to provide optimum comfort levels with greatly reduced condensation.
The Eclipse is the product of months of NPD designed to meet the high specifications demanded by explorers and outdoor enthusiasts. The sales and marketing director said:
“We are aware that there are a number of people who prefer tunnel tents because of the high space to weight ratio, but we are also conscious of the stability problems associated with this design. We believe the Eclipse provides a better, more stable solution than the tunnel tents currently available.
