At Terra Nova Equipment, we’re passionate about the outdoors. We’re equally as passionate about reducing our impact on the environment, therefore, we’re taking the necessary steps to reduce our carbon footprint across our product range and throughout our offices. Becoming as sustainable as possible is really important to us. Read more on our sustainability below.
Terra Nova
We’re constantly researching ways to improve the performance of our products whilst minimising their environmental impact. Working closely with our suppliers, we’re developing new sustainable materials, components and coatings. These coatings are thoroughly tested to ensure they perform to our demanding standards.
One key area of research aims to reduce and eventually eradicate the use of PFC’s from all of our DWR coatings. We’re proud to be taking the first step towards this by creating the majority of Terra Nova tents with PFC-free, breathable inner tent fabric for 2023. Alongside this, some models using our Si2 flysheet and groundsheet fabric will now be entirely PFC-free.
Terra Nova Tent Trade-In
In order to ensure tents avoid land-fills for as long as possible, we make tents that last. When the day comes and you’re ready to replace your trusty tent, we’re here to offer you 30% off the price of a new one.
From 2022, the new Extremities Lifestyle Collection has been designed for everyone and is kinder to the planet, with the introduction of ECO headwear. The all-new Polylana® ECO yarn beanies are a low-impact alternative to 100% acrylic, with all of the thermal properties you’d expect from a winter beanie. Polylana® blended yarn is a high-quality sustainable yarn for knitwear and woven fabric applications containing at least 50% of Polylana® Fiber.
PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco was born out of the challenge to do better for the environment and the consumers who seek to enjoy it. Modelled after their highest-performing synthetic insulation, PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation boasts the ultimate in warmth-to-weight thermal efficiency with an environmental conscience. Featuring 100% post-consumer recycled fibers, this insulation offers performance you can trust even in the wettest of weather. With packability, outstanding softness and an easy-care package, this is the no-compromise synthetic flagship for those that demand the best for their gear and the environment.
In a pledge to be as environmentally friendly as possible, our packaging is now also more sustainable with fully recyclable header cards and swing tags, which were previously more difficult to recycle.
Our offices
Terra Nova Equipment ensures it maintains full control over how its products are produced. We maintain a no-landfill, sustainability policy for the company’s waste and low-energy solutions at our UK site:
Terra Nova Equipment is committed to first-class environmental standards in our company’s modern Clay Cross warehouse. We use LED lighting, efficient heating and good standards of insulation.
We partner with Derbyshire-based Peak Waste Limited to handle all waste material. Peak Waste has avoided using landfills for over 12 years.
Waste from Terra Nova Equipment is manually sorted; recyclable materials are segregated for reprocessing and residual waste is shredded for use in a Waste to Energy facility.
We use sea freight for transportation, rather than environmentally unfriendly air freight.
Terra Nova Equipment continues to research more eco-friendly solutions to help sustain the planet that we all love and explore.
