DAC Green Anodized Poles
Eco-conscious engineering from the world leader in tent pole technology.
We exclusively feature DAC Green Anodized poles in our premium tent range to deliver world-class strength and weight savings with a radically reduced environmental footprint.
Material: Exclusive TH72M aluminum alloy, providing the highest strength-to-weight ratio in the industry.
Green Technology: The Anodising process completely eliminates nitric and phosphoric acids, utilizing a closed-loop water recycling system to protect both the environment and the craftspeople who build them.
Ultralight Design: Precision swaged at both ends to shed every unnecessary gram without compromising structural integrity.
The gold standard for performance and a sustainable future.
Ultra-lightweight flexibility. Trim weight. Go further.
Designed by our product specialists to offer ultimate versatility for fast-paced adventures, the FastPack system allows you to dramatically reduce your rucksack’s weight and bulk. By using a dedicated footprint in place of an inner tent, you transform your shelter into a high-performance, minimalist waterproof bivi-style setup.
Modular Weight Saving: Leave the inner tent at home when conditions permit to shave significant grams and volume from your pack.
Weatherproof Protection: The system utilises a footprint that covers the entire area under the flysheet, including the porch, providing a clean, dry sleeping area.
Structural Integrity: The footprint is precision-engineered to provide the essential tension and anchor points required for the poles, ensuring the tent remains stable and secure.
The Munros are a famous collection of every 3000 ft hill in Scotland – 283 at the last count. On April 25th 2010, Stephen Pyke set out to complete them all in a continuous round under his own steam, summiting the final peak 39 days later to knock an incredible 9 days (about 20 percent!) off the previous record. Now back home in ‘full recovery mode’, Stephen had the following to say about his record journey :
“At 3.06pm on 3 June, I reached the summit of Ben Hope, the most northerly of Scotland’s 3,000 ft peaks, 39 days nine hours and six minutes after setting off to climb Ben More on Mull on 25 April. This completed the fastest round of the Munros beating the previous record of 48 days twelve hours set by Charlie Campbell in the summer of 2000. The round was completed under my own steam using a bike to link the various mountain ranges and a couple of stretches of kayaking.
With 283 Munros in all, I had to climb an average of just over seven Munros a day, which typically involved 3-4,000 metre of ascent and about 30 miles over some of the roughest mountain terrain to be found anywhere in Europe. Moving fast through some of Scotland’s most remote areas, I had to minimise the weight of my pack but I also had to be sure my kit would not let me down. I selected the incredibly light Laser Photon Elite, confident from my previous experience with the Laser Competition that it would stand up to the potentially harsh Highland weather. I am pleased to report that it performed to expectations.”
Stephen used the definitive solo lightweight tent – the Laser Photon Elite – in his successful attempt, as well as the new Laser 20 Elite Pack. You can read a day-by-day report of his progress as well as viewing maps and pictures on his dedicated blog.
Stephen’s remarkable achievement also completes a fantastic double for Terra Nova. Back in 2005, Steve Perry used our Laserlite tent (now re-named as the classic Laser Competition) as well as extremities clothing to complete his amazing Munro round in the depths of a highland winter. To have provided the primary shelter for both the record summer and winter rounds is an honour, and just reward for the fantastic effort put into designing Terra Nova tents.
