Terra Nova Expedition Services

Terra Nova Expeditons Logo

Terra Nova Expedition Services (TNES) provide custom made expeditions to the youth and adult sector.

Historically expeditions ventured into blank spaces on the map to further geographic knowledge and scientific discovery, interacting with communities in situ. TNES aspires to carry on this legacy in an ever changing world.

Our ethos is best summed up by T S Elliot:
“We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time.”

About Us

“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me. Shall be my brother;”
– Shakespeare

TNES is the sister company of Terra Nova Equipment Ltd, whose heritage is in mountain tents which are still a regular sight on Everest and at the Poles. This is the heritage that lies at the heart of TNES.

TNES is run by a small experienced team from its main office in Derbyshire. Her staff have experience of leading and planning expeditions all over the globe. Yet, the key to its expeditions are the leaders on the ground. All TNES leaders are highly experienced, fully qualified and specialists in their field.

Adult Expeditions

adult expedition services

“Something hidden. Go and find it. Go and look behind the ranges.”
– Kipling

TNES Provides expeditions for adults. These are bespoke trips that are aimed at adventurous people who want to either challenge themselves or just get away from it all for the weekend.

From frontier treks on Baffin Island or to a camping trip in the Peak District, field work in Greenland, or Scafell Pike- there is something for everyone.

They are all aimed at making differences to the people that take part. Whether it be a voyage of personal discovery, a new challenge or just to reach a point on a map that you’ve never been to before.

School Expeditions

“To Strive, to seek, to find and not to yield”
– Tennyson

TNES provides tailor made frontier experiences for schools and young people. Each Expedition is planned from scratch with an emphasis on high end delivery in the field. The expeditions are planned to make a difference to both the young people that travel; to the wilderness areas they venture to, and to the communities they interact with. Expeditions leave the UK following an extensive training and preparation period, with an emphasis on ensuring each participant is fully prepared for their journey.

Expeditions focus on three core elements; frontier wilderness experiences, geographical and scientific discovery and projects that change lives.

The Kathryn Bull Memorial Trust Expedition

“When I look ahead up the white road
There is always another one walking beside you.”

– TS Elliot

Kathryn Bull was a talented horsewoman who was tragically killed by a horse in April 2016. The Kathryn Bull Memorial Trust (KBMT) has been set up in her memory to foster her ethos and love of life.

The KBMT Expedition will run every two years and focus on an adventurous expedition on horseback. To ride and explore for the pure joy of being alive.

The Fuchs Foundation

“If you actually look like your passport photo, you aren’t well enough to travel.”
– Sir Vivian Fuchs

Since 2007 under the direction of Peter Fuchs, the Fuchs Foundation has sent teachers and adults on a series of major expeditions, most notably to the Antarctic, the Arctic and Iceland. Their aims are always to inspire young people through either teachers telling their story or adults inspiring their colleagues.

The expeditions are focused on scientific and geographical fieldwork. TNES are proud to be the expedition provider for The Fuchs Foundation.
